Home Comforts
Kolchok High School has been home for a week. Living conditions are basic. Unyielding wooden beds are softened by just a blanket and a sheet. Squat toilets with a bucket and tap demand a balancing act which takes time to perfect. Two taps on a wall are our only showers.
The pictures tell only part of the story. The worst plagues on our comforts are the marauding mosquitoes who work twenty four hour shifts, causing maddeningly itchy red bumps all over our sun burned bodies.
But for the delicious Bengali food and the incessant friendship of every Kolchakian we would surely run screaming all the way to Dublin.
