Niamh's First Impressions

This is our third day in India. Since we got here everything has been different to what we are used to. We went sight seeing the first day where we saw loads and we properly began to experience the concept of being in India.

My favorite thing that has happened so far is when we were on our way back to the school on Monday evening, someone spotted two monkeys in a tree. We all crowded around trying to get pictures of them, but of course struggling as the sun was shining directly where they were sitting. As we were about to leave with our terrible pictures we saw another one sitting on a pillar, looking around him. We all went over to him and to my surprise no matter how close we went he didn’t seem to be fearful in the slightest bit. We thought we were in luck having seen three monkeys, until we turned around to see another twenty surrounding us. There were monkeys everywhere literally posing for the cameras. There was another sitting there drinking a bottle of seven up and a mother eating a banana, every so often breaking off little bits to feed to her baby.

Most of us decided to take pictures of ourselves with the monkeys, so Trish and I decided to get a picture with two of them who were up on a wall. Just as the picture was taken and looked up and realized I had my arm wrapped around his tail, which was longer than I was. I grabbed my arm back really quickly in shock, looked up and saw him staring at me. …. :/

What an interestingly written account Niamh. I think you have really captured the experience of meeting a mob of Monkeys. Hopefully we'll get to see the pictures when you return to, at present, very wet and windy Ireland.Watch that the monkeys don't steal anything from you and tell that 7up-drinking one to get something more healthy!
Hope all goes wonderfully well all the way. P.Brady
