The Documentary.
Ronan O’Leary, the renowned Irish documentary and film director is heading the team of 1st cameraman, Ronan Lee, experienced in TV and documentary work for forty years, along with second cameramen Volker Ehlers and Ivan McCullough making a thoroughly professional unit.
We are documenting the extraordinary story of the huge impact a small Dublin school can make in helping to provide good schools for tens of thousands of educationally deprived village children in West Bengal.
This project has been running for seven years and it is becoming better known as time goes on. Indian TV have done several programmes this year and we have been recognized on the streets of Delhi and Kolkata. The press has taking increasing interest in what John Scottus School is doing in India. We were honoured by the governor of West Bengal, Gopal Krishna Gandhi, who met us and described our work as a ‘noble deed’.
The film will be visually stunning. The work begins when we get home to edit the eighty hours of footage shot on the very latest HD Sony cameras. By October we hope to premiere what is shaping up to be a film for all ages and interests....a ‘docudrama’ which can potentially be sold across the world, with all proceeds going back into the West Bengal School Building Fund.
