The birthplace of Krishna

Brij Darshan

The birthplace of Krishna.

We visited today the birthplace of Krishna at the Swaminarayan Temple, Mathura, 50 k from Delhi. It is a place of powerful spiritual energy, a pilgrimage place for Hindus and for all wishing communion with absolute reality.

The place itself is approached down dark stone steps and is a shady small cavernous room with some holy men gently beating drums. In fact I practically missed it, passing through hurriedly in an effort to find it quickly I had no time to dwell on the experience. We had to be back to the bus and I had overstayed my time in the temple proper.

Nevertheless I shall remember till my dying day that fleeting moment and the thirty minutes I spent in the Swaminarayan Temple complex, Mathura, India.
