Back to the city and final days.
We have spent two wonderful weeks in the country. We’ve helped build two primary schools which will benefit the children of Uttarbarh and Jhillimili for generations to come. We have got to know ourselves and rural India intimately. Kolkata welcomed us back with its now familiar smells and warmth. Delhi is a two hour flight away.
The Singh wedding was as colourful as it promised to be. The Taj Mahal every bit as beautiful as all the brochure’s predict. Akbar’s courts and palaces are amazing in their size and magnanimity of design. Delhi itself is stunning and impressive for its scale, green spaces and clean air. But we all agree nothing can compare with the friendship of the Bengali people, whether it is experienced in the crazy streets of Kolkata or the bustling tranquillity of its rural villages.
